Our Areas of Expertise

WOMEN’S MENTAL HEALTH

We understand that neurodivergent individuals approach the world in unique and wonderful ways, and your therapy should reflect that individuality. Whether you are navigating a late-in-life diagnosis of ADHD, raising an autistic child, or in a neurodiverse romantic relationship, our specialized care is designed to meet your specific needs. We are here to support you in overcoming the challenges that can arise in an often-overwhelming world, providing a personalized and empathetic approach to help you thrive.

Neurodivergence

trauma

Experiencing trauma can be life-altering. Trauma, in all its forms, can change how we see and relate to ourselves and the world. It isn’t just a thing of the past; it profoundly affects our present lives. However, healing is possible. Our compassionate therapists are dedicated to guiding you on your healing journey, offering a safe and supportive environment to explore and process your experiences. Whether you're dealing with past trauma or recent events, we are here to help you find strength, resilience, and hope. Together, we can work towards a future where you feel empowered and whole.

somatic & holistic practices

We take a somatic (body-oriented) and holistic approach to therapy, recognizing the deep interconnection between the mind, body, and spirit. Our methods focus on the physical sensations and experiences stored in the body, which are crucial for unlocking and healing emotional and psychological wounds. We help you become more attuned to your body's signals, fostering greater self-awareness and emotional regulation. By integrating techniques such as mindfulness, yoga, movement, and breathwork, we aim to release stored tension and trauma, promoting overall well-being and resilience. Our team is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment where you can explore and heal from within, ultimately leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life

Have More Questions?

Here is a list of our most frequently asked questions

  • Therapy can be a profoundly beneficial tool in helping you navigate the complexities of life. It offers a safe space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions under the guidance of a trained professional. Through therapy, you can gain deeper insights into your behaviours, patterns, and relationships, enabling you to understand and manage your feelings more effectively. It can help you develop coping strategies to deal with stress, anxiety, and depression, and provide support through challenging times. Additionally, therapy can aid in improving communication skills, boosting self-esteem, and fostering better, healthier relationships. Whether you are dealing with specific mental health issues, life transitions, or simply seeking personal growth, therapy can offer support, empowerment, and a path to greater well-being.

  • At the first appointment you can expect to begin with an orientation to therapy. We will review the consent procedures with you and ensure that all of your questions are answered. You can expect to be informed about how the process of therapy works and how we will work with you. A comprehensive intake will occur where we spend time getting to know you, your needs, your strengths and the challenges you are facing. We will work together to set goals and create actionable steps.

  • A Registered Provisional Psychologist is in the initial phase of their professional practice. They have completed their educational requirements, which typically include a master's degree in psychology, and are working towards full registration. Provisional psychologists must practice under the supervision of a fully registered psychologist to gain the practical experience needed for full licensure. This period allows them to refine their skills under the guidance of an experienced mentor. A Registered Psychologist has completed all the requirements set by the College of Alberta Psychologists, including the necessary educational qualifications, a specified amount of supervised practice, and passing the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP). Registered psychologists are qualified to practice independently and can provide a wider range of psychological services without supervision. They are recognized as fully licensed professionals who meet all the standards required to ensure public safety and ethical practice in the field of psychology.

  • Our fees vary by service type and the therapist's experience. You can find fees listed under each therapist's profile and on our Jane booking site.

Payment is due following the received service. Payment can be made by e-transfer or with any major credit card.

  • You do not need a referral to access services at Risewell Psychology. However, some insurance companies require a physician’s referral for coverage purposes. So we recommend checking with your insurance company prior to booking your first session.

  • At this time, we do not direct bill to insurance companies. Receipts will be issued for insurance and tax deduction purposes.

  • Most Extended Health Care Plans cover the cost of psychological services. Before your first appointment, you may wish to contact your employer or benefits provider about health coverage options.

Any fees paid to a Registered Psychologist (that are not reimbursed by an insurance provider) are considered a tax-deductible health expense.
